Preventive Dental Health

There’s no better fix for gum disease, fillings and tooth decay than to catch them early on or prevent them all together. We have a strong focus on preventive dentistry by providing thorough check-ups and diagnosis to all patients who come through our door.

Our professional approach at Woodcroft Dental is to spot potential problems as they arise, then they are easier to prevent or treat.

Regular dental examinations are an important part of preventive care. They enable our dentists to keep a close eye on your teeth and gums. Our check-ups also include free oral cancer screening which could save your life.

We request that patients return at regular intervals to minimise treatment needs. It is in your interest to attend these appointments wherever possible so you can keep your teeth for life. Our hygienist Samuel also plays a key role in helping you to avoid or combat gum disease.

With every new patient dental examination we will:

  • Evaluate your overall health and oral hygiene
  • Evaluate your risk of tooth decay, root decay, and gum or bone disease
  • Evaluate your need for tooth restoration using fillings or crowns, or tooth replacement using dentures bridges or dental implants
  • Check your bite and jaw for problems
  • Evaluate any stains or deposits on your teeth and then refer you to the hygienist if necessary
  • Demonstrate proper cleaning techniques for your teeth or dentures
  • Assess how much fluoride you’re getting through your diet and use of oral hygiene products
  • Take oral X-rays or, if necessary, do other diagnostic procedures
